Individual Counseling
“He who conceals his disease cannot expect to be cured.” African Proverb
Reaching out for help can be frightening. At Totally Whole we offer a safe non-judgmental environment for you to sort out your issues. We offer an individualized approach to addressing your needs. We believe that the mind, body and spirit are interconnected and that “the part can never be well unless the whole is well.”- Plato. Therefore, we complete a holistic assessment and treatment plan that is uniquely tailored to you. We offer treatment interventions that promote healing using cognitive, somatic, and spiritual interventions. Of course, we are sensitive to your preferences and only utilize interventions that are consistent with your beliefs and comfort level.
In individual counseling we provide treatment for depression, anxiety, grief and loss, PTSD, Bi-Polar Disorder, adult ADHD, childhood traumas and interpersonal conflicts.
Women
For women we specifically address issues related to trauma recovery, post-partum depression, parenting stress, divorce recovery, work-life balance, self-esteem, and body image.
Men
For men we address issues related to parenting, trauma recovery, effective communication, role adjustment, divorce recovery and managing micro and macro aggressions.
Adolescents and Families
Adolescence is a period of transition that can be overwhelming. Adolescents are trying to establish their individuality from parents, managing the hormones of puberty and dealing with peer relationships. Adjusting to this transitional period can lead to anxiety, depression, oppositional behaviors, and adjustment disorders. We provide individual counseling for the youth and family counseling to assist with navigating this phase of development.
Couples
Two becoming one often requires changing behavioral patterns that are counterproductive to a healthy relationship. Totally Whole provides couples counseling for those considering marriage and those who have committed to marriage. We believe that emotional intelligence is a key ingredient for a healthy relationship. Much of our couple’s work centers on John Gottman’s “Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.” We teach communication skills, conflict management, understanding your partner’s love language, self-regulation, self-soothing, parenting, co-parenting and blended family issues.
